Tim Challies gives a list of books that every Christian should read and I couldn’t agree more with this entire list. Some of the books he mentions, I thought I was the only one who recommended. He chose The Pleasures of God by John Piper (not Desiring God). Yes! It is such a great book. Much better than Desiring God. This is a video with a transcript. I highly recommend.
the Smithsonian Magazine has published an article that I find very interesting. I pastored in Hammond, IN for 11 years and I vaguely remember someone mentioning this in passing. It has now been 100 years since the great Train Wreck of Hammond. Definitely worth reading.
If Martin Luther were alive today (or say 50 years ago) what movie would be among his favorites? Dustin Messer thinks he knows. Some interesting thoughts about Luther and Stewart.
Dr. Albert Mohler gives an excerpt from his book on the Lord’s Prayer (The Prayer That Turns the World Upside Down). I got this book at T4G this year and am looking forward to reading it. If this excerpt is any indication, it will be well-worth the time to read it cover to cover.
You’ve probably heard about The Benedict Option by Rod Dreher, but have you heard of the Esther Option. Mike Cosper wrote a blog delineating what this means for us as Christians. I found it very thought-provoking. He asks hard questions that each Christian must answer and also gives some helpful guidance.
