Lover of Christ, wife, children, and church. I am a Christian husband and father, pastoring a church just outside of St. Louis. I am a man who wants to be as Christlike as I can be, and yet I never live up to what I know.
I was born in 1980 in Jacksonville, FL, lived for a short time in Indiana (where I came to faith in ’87) as a child, and then moved to Georgia. I grew up most of life there, though I have now lived more of my life outside that wonderful place. I met my wife on the internet (before it was cool) back in 1998, about 6 months after my dad died. She lived in WI and I in GA. We saw each other about a total of 6 weeks (though we were engaged for about a year and a half) before getting married.
I’ve pastored churches in Georgia (Toomsboro Baptist), Indiana (Orchard Drive Baptist, Fellowship of Christ–merging with Hillcrest Baptist to become “The Pointe”), and Highland View Baptist where I have pastored since 2014.
My wife and I have 5 kids whom I adore. I am not the greatest of husbands or dads. Though I aspire to be.
I am of the reformed persuasion (5 point Calvinist, but baptistic as well). I follow after the line of Spurgeon. My favorite pastors/theologians: John Piper, John MacArthur, R. C. Sproul, Charles Spurgeon, Albert Mohler, John Calvin, and those who are similar to these men.
I am always hopeful of feedback, so please be sure to respond/reply to any post.
I am still in the process of narrowing down what this blog is about, but I am trying to blog on a daily basis. The following days are what I tend to focus the blog on:
Sunday: Sermon (a synopsis of my sermon that day)
Monday: Miscellaneous (anything goes)
Tuesday: News (writing on an issue that is in the news)
Wednesday: Wisdom (a quick exposition from a passage in the books of wisdom)
Thursday: Top 10 (just to get to know me better)
Friday: Family (something to do with the family–Dad, Mom, Kids, or unit)
Saturday: (everyone suffers from something; this is to help us suffer well)
Throughout the week I will also link to other articles from bloggers in “You’re Gonna Want to Read This.” This will be four or five articles that I’ve read and recommend reading.
