Saturday Sayings 5/19/17

I changed things up a bit. Rather than simply posting pictures of Twitter posts, I copied and pasted them all, giving credit to whom credit is due. These were some of my favorites from this past week. I hope they speak to you and that you enjoy them as much or more than I.

The first thing I plan to do on resurrected legs is to drop on grateful, glorified knees.

The struggle against abortion & the struggle against racism are directed toward the same enemy—dehumanization. Instead of picking which group of people needs more protection, Christians should present a robust pro-life position for ALL people.

I’m very happy to say that I am officially an elder candidate @HVBCStCharles! If the congregation will have me at our annual business meeting next month, I will graciously serve as one of their pastors. Please be in prayer for me and for our church!

Spurgeon: “The devil never reckons a man to be lost so long as he has a good mother alive. O woman, great is thy power!”

Believing Christianity to be true must mean believing all faiths that contradict it are false. That’s not bad-mouthing other religions; it’s caring for those deceived by them.

“To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you.” – C. S. Lewis

“I am concerned that sometimes we let principles of Americanism determine the way we read Scripture, rather than letting Scripture determine how we evaluate principles of Americanism.” How the Nations Rage

It is the Father to appoint, the Son to accomplish, and the Holy Spirit to apply the one work of redemption.

When we pray in the name of our Mediator, we pray boldly, with his authority, by the merit of his blood, submitted to his sovereign will, confident in his promises.

So, at the end of your prayers, don’t mumble “IN JESUS’ NAME.” Declare it loudly. That’s the climax of our faith.

Please keep SBC politics in perspective. Today when you go to lunch (not at Chick fil A) ask your waiter/waitress if he/she knows who @jdgreear is or @KenHemphill. The next SBC President is important but the truth is your city is more impacted by YOU/Local Church getting after it.
